Twenty-nine Democratic candidates for local office are firing back today at a Republican lawsuit to keep them off the Working Families Party ballot line in November, arguing that the case should be dismissed.
As an Onondaga County legislator, I believe our citizens need to know that, due to the reality of the public health and economic crisis we are in, there was little transparency in the process of developing the 2021 county budget or in amending it.
The bill has been up for debate for the past two months. Legislator Chris Ryan proposed the bill in February after a Syracuse pit bull named Adrian froze to death a month before while tethered on the city's South Side.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The end of the 2020 census will mark the rare opportunity for a redraw of voter districts, including in Onondaga County. Today, proposed legislation to put the responsibility of redrawing districts in the hands of a "non-partisan" citizen committee failed. The vote fell on party lines, with 11 Republicans including County Legislature Chair David Knapp voting no, and all 6 Democrats voting yes. One legislator was absent.
